When are the Easter school holidays in London?
The Easter school holidays for most schools in England is from Friday, 29 March to Friday, 12 April 2024. Some schools in London start the Easter school holidays earlier, from Monday, 25 March.
Easter Egg Hunts in London 2024
Several venues and attractions around London typically organise special Easter egg hunt trails with a chocolate treat or prize at the end.
Recently announced Easter 2024 events include the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace, an Easter Egg Hunt at Merchant Square Paddington, Easter Adventure Quest at Chiswick House, the Spring Fair at Horniman Museum and Gardens and Easter Egg Hunts at National Trust sites. I will keep this post updated as more London Easter 2024 egg hunts and family events are confirmed.

Dinosaur rEvolution at the Horniman Museum
10 February – 3 November 2024
Explore the relationship between dinosaurs and birds at the first UK showing of Dinosaur rEvolution at Horniman Museum and Gardens.
This fascinating, family-friendly exhibition will feature five large animatronic models, many accurate cast fossil skeletons and skulls – some touchable, detailed graphics by the acclaimed artist Luis V Rey, dress up, games, and more.
Exhibition tickets cost £9 for adults, £4.50 for children. Free for under 3s.

The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace
23 March – 14 April 2024
The Lindt Gold Bunny hunt returns to Hampton Court Palace during the Easter school holidays. Use the trail map to explore over 60 acres of palace gardens and find the Lindt Gold Bunny statues that are hiding there.
When you have finished, remember to collect a Lindt GOLD BUNNY (10g) chocolate reward. Non chocolate rewards are also available on request.
The hunt is designed for children aged 4-12 years old and their families. The Lindt Gold Bunny hunt is included in palace admission (members go free.) Under 5s go free and will not need a ticket.
Combine with a visit to the Magic Garden at Hampton Court Palace (also included in palace admission, members go free) for a fun family day out.

Easter Egg Hunts at National Trust sites
from 23 March – 14 April 2024, see details below
Make your way along the Easter trails and Easter egg huts at many of the National Trust sites around London over the school holidays. The price of the National Trust Easter trails are £3 per child (for members and non-members) and includes a trail map, pencil and a chocolate egg at the end. Normal admission applies.
The following National Trust sites in London are running Easter egg hunts;
Ham House and Garden (23 March – 14 April) – Travel back in time to the Civil War and collect clues at ten outdoor game stations to spell out a codeword to help save Ham House – and claim a chocolate reward! Prices are £3 per trail which includes a chocolate or vegan and Free From chocolate egg. No booking required. Read more on the Ham House Easter Egg Hunt.
Osterley House and Gardens (27 March – 14 April) – Experience the fun of the fair as you explore the gardens, with 10 Summer Fair themed activities. Morden Hall Park (29 March – 3 April) – Find nature-inspired activities as you explore the Easter egg trail at Morden Hall Park. You will be taken on a journey through sound, music and discovery with fun-filled games and activities. Bing’s Nature Explorers at WWT London Wetland Centre
23 March – 2 June 2024
Join Bing and Flop at London Wetland Centre over the Easter holidays to become a Nature Explorer with activity trails, storytelling, character mini shows and much more.
Learn all about wetland nature and wildlife following fun-filled challenges on Bing’s Nature Explorers trail. Pick up a map at the start and collect your sticker once you’ve completed the trail.
Storytelling sessions with Bing will be on every weekend and daily throughout the London Easter school holidays. There will also be character appearances along with mini shows featuring Bing, Flop and one of the WWT team for guests to learn about wildlife and wetlands.

Terrible Thames Boat Tour from Tower Bridge Quay
23 March – 14 April 2024
Horrible Histories presents its wicked river tour, the Terrible Thames, back in time for the Easter holidays! Climb aboard and prepare to hear the horrible history of the most famous river in the world.
Tickets cost £25 for adults and £15 for children. Under 3s do not need a ticket but will need to sit on the lap of a parent or guardian. Terrible Thames boat tours depart from Tower Bridge Quay.

Easter Adventure Quest at Chiswick House and Gardens
29 March – 1 April 2024
Chiswick House and Gardens are running an adventure Quest over the Easter weekend. Answer the questions hidden around the gardens and find the hidden eggs to receive a tasty chocolate treat.
Quests cost £2 each and are available for purchase between 10:30am – 2:45pm on the day from the Chiswick House welcome desk, located just inside the Gardeners’ Gate.

Bluey at Kew Gardens

The hit animated television series Bluey is coming to life at Kew Gardens this Easter! Enjoy family friendly activities inspired by the show. Budding adventurers will have the chance to design their day from activities in playful zones dotted around Kew Gardens.

Easter Adventure at Hobbledown Heath
29 March – 14 April 2024
Hobbledown Heath in West London will have an egg-stra special line-up to celebrate during the Easter holidays. Join in on the Easter Egg Quest to find eggs hidden around the park and win a special prize.
Family activities this Easter at Hobbledown Heath also include archery sessions, Birds of Prep on twice daily, Spring story time at the Thinkery and a fun-filled Bunny Hop Olympics.

The Secret Life of Reptiles and Amphibians at London Zoo
29 March – 30 April 2024
London Zoo’s newest major exhibit, ‘The Secret Life of Reptiles and Amphibians’ will be opening in time for the Easter holidays.
Plan a day out at the London Zoo and see the new purpose-built space at London Zoo housing 26 species in eight different habitats, including Philippine crocodiles, Chinese Giant salamanders and the mountain chicken – a gigantic species of frog from the Caribbean!

Spring Fair at the Horniman Museum and Gardens
30 March 2024
Join in with seasonal fun and games at the annual Horniman Spring Fair this Easter. There will be live music, craft workshops, bubble performances, an Easter bonnet parade, traditional fete games and much more.
Learn amazing circus skills from Project Hoop or get stuck into the magic of woodworking with Seed of Play (suitable for ages 2+). Horniman Museum and Gardens are also offering a discounted price to visit the Butterfly House during the Fair, available to purchase on the day for £2.50 per person.

Discovery Days at The Hyde Park Learning Centre
2 – 4, 9 – 11 April 2024
Visit the Hyde Park Learning Centre for their free Discovery Days this Easter school holidays, on selected days between 11am and 3pm. All visitors are welcomed on a first come, first served basis.
Spring Surprises (2 – 4 April): Celebrate the signs of spring with family activities including pond dipping, exploring their wildlife garden, nature based arts and crafts and springtime story sessions.
Marvellous Mammals (9 – 11 April): Learn about mammals and their habitats through nature-inspired activities and storytelling sessions. Discover how to identify mammal tracks and create your own, and learn interesting facts and look for mammals in the garden.

Easter Egg Hunt at Merchant Square Paddington
5 April 2024
Get ready for an eggstraordinary Easter celebration at the annual free Merchant Square Egg Hunt!
The Humpty Dumpty-themed Egg Hunt will be divided into six 45-minute sessions throughout the day, with limited spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. Find all the broken egg pieces, gather the King’s Men and put the nearly eight-foot tall Humpty back together again.
There will also be an Easter Bunny Hunt throughout Merchant Square. Find all the Easter yard signs at various landmarks to receive a chocolate prize.

Romeo and Juliet at Polka Theatre

Forced apart by generations of hatred, young eyes meet across a South London dancefloor on a fateful night that will change their lives forever.

This Easter, join Telemachus on an epic adventure through stormy seas and strange lands, filled with mystical creatures, dangerous monsters and enchanting sirens – plus two talking sheep – and discover what really makes a true hero.

Three Billy Goats Gruff at Polka Theatre

Join our three adventurer billy goats as they dare to cross the bridge to the other side. The troll is determined this is his land and you need to get off it – but the billy goats have a few thoughts on that!
Hiccup Theatre, in collaboration with Derby Theatre and Polka Theatre, bring you another exciting treat from the team that brought you ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’ and ‘The Gingerbread Man’. Crockford Bridge Farm will have an Easter Eggvent over the Easter bank holiday weekend, aimed at younger visitors and recommended for children up to 8+ years. Activities must be supervised by an accompanying adult and will include an Easter Egg Hunt (with a sweet prize), Magic Bean Eggsperience and Egg and Spoon race.

Easter Fun at Godstone Farm

Godstone Farm is a great farm park to visit with young children since it’s easy to walk around. Wander along the Farm Trail for a chance to see alpacas, rabbits, sheep, goats, horses, chickens and more. Keep an eye out for the Animal Holding experiences for an opportunity to get up close to their smaller animals.
