Light Festival at Battersea Power Station
23 January – 23 February 2025
Explore eight light art installations at Battersea Power Station’s annual free Light Festival. Many of the installations, from British and international artists, are enhanced with soundscapes and interactive elements.
There will also be family-friendly workshops, live entertainment and silent discos throughout the Light Festival.

The Robot Zoo Exhibition at Horniman Museum
14 February – 2 November 2025
Horniman Museum and Gardens is opening a new family-friendly exhibition just in time for February half-term. The Robot Zoo features larger-than-life animals that have been innovatively recreated using a variety of familiar machine parts and gadgets to reveal how their real life counterparts see, eat, hunt and hide.

Interactive exhibits at the Robot Zoo exhibition also give visitors the chance to try jet-propelled squid racing and shoot a chameleon’s ‘tongue-gun’.
Tickets cost £9.75 for adults and £6.50 for child. Children aged under 3 are free. Recommended to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Half Term History Makers at Eltham Palace
15 – 23 February 2025
Enjoy a great value day out at Eltham Palace and Gardens in Greenwich. Join characters from the past for historical hijinks and hands-on shenanigans.
This February half term, be transported back in time to the Victorian period by magical lantern shows and stories. Free to visit for English Heritage members.

Stomp, splash and squelch this February half term with the muddy activities on at London Wetland Centre Barnes.
The Mudfest activity line-up includes creating your own pieces of wetland mud art, making seed bombs and building nests. The mud kitchen is open all day long for kids to cook up a storm with the special equipment.

Criminal mastermind Colonel Blood and his audacious gang are up to no good at the Tower of London this February half term. Find out what they’re planning in this fun, family-friendly costumed event.
Colonel Blood and the Crown Jewels will be performed across the main visitor route throughout the day.

T. Rex Show at the Natural History Museum
17 – 21 February 2025
Calling all dinosaur fans! The Natural History Museum are running T. Rex shows with Teach Rex over February half-term. Teach Rex use life-like dinosaurs to perform their show about the anatomy and life of Tyrannosaurus rex.

The show is suitable for children aged 3 years and over. The educational part of the T. Rex show lasts for about an hour, followed by a meet and greet where you can take photos with the dinosaurs.
There are three performances each day from 17 to 21 February. Tickets cost £12 for adults and children, with a reduced rate of £10.80 for members.

Family Workshops at Chelsea Physic Garden
17 – 20 February 2025
Chelsea Physic Garden are running several family workshops over the February half-term, from chocolate making to flower arranging and jar painting.
Ticket prices vary depending on the workshop, from £15 per adult and £20 per child for Family Chocolate Making to £35 per adult and £25 per child for Queer Families: Myth Making and Mono Printing.

Imagine Children’s Festival at Southbank Centre

Southbank Centre’s annual Imagine Children’s Festival is running over February half term. Imagine Festival will offer a full-on programme of children’s theatre, music, dance and more.

Out of this World: Moons Workshop at the Royal Observatory

The Out of this World experience begins in the Royal Observatory’s planetarium, exploring the moons of our solar system. Then, join in on an interactive workshop to put your knowledge to the test!
Tickets cost £5 per child. Recommended for ages 7+. Note that the Royal Observatory cannot offer free tickets for under 5s with this event.

Family Sessions at the National Gallery

How do we look at pictures, and what can a painting really tell us? Explore the National Gallery with their Gallery Educator team, who will share skills to guide you in asking questions and discovering answers.
Family sessions at the National Gallery over February half term include Decoding Pictures, a Family Lute Tour: Music and Stories around the Gallery and The Sound of Paintings. Recommended for ages 5 – 13 years old, but all ages are welcome.

February Nature Roadshows at The Royal Parks
18 and 20 February 2025
Join in on free drop-in activities with the Royal Parks in Greenwich Park and Kensington Gardens. Family activities include following a scavenger trail, taking a closer look at nature with binoculars and creating your own nature crafts.
Drop in anytime at the locations in Greenwich Park and Kensington Gardens between 11am to 3pm to take part in the fun interactive activities.
Greenwich Park (18 February) – located at the Greenwich Park Learning Centre. Combine with a visit to the National Maritime Museum or Cutty Sark.
Kensington Gardens (20 February) – located next to the Italian Gardens. Combine with a visit to the Diana Memorial Playground or the Wonderlab at Science Museum.
February half term activities vary from event to event but activities are suitable for the whole family.

Join in on a wide range of free drop-in activities on this half-term at V&A South Kensington.
Digital Kids: Listening Garden (18 – 21 February) – Listen closely to the subtle sounds beneath the surface of a living garden to then play, experiment and combine with your own sounds to bring a soundscape to life. Suitable for ages 5+

How Food Shapes Us (19 – 21 February) – Activities will include a Korean inspired fruit preserve making and food label design workshop (Preserving our food!), creating your own creatures from vegetables and fruits onto a big tablecloth (Table of Tales) and creating your own version of a place-based meal on a poster (P_l_an_t). Based on the bestselling picture book about taking a chance, The Koala Who Could, this brand-new adaptation for stage follows Kevin, King of the staying-still-kings, and his friends, the wombats and Kangaroo, as they learn that “life can be great when you try something new”.

Boxville at Polka Theatre

Join Designer Sam Wilde and Director Ian Nicholson (‘I Want My Hat Back’ Trilogy) on their next cardboard adventure. Using their trademark sustainable cardboard puppet style, explore Boxville, a land made entirely from sustainable cardboard!
Work with the Boxville engineers to craft-a-long with the story and build your own way through the tasks and trials of Boxville, earning everything you need to become a fully fledged cardboard engineer!
You will meet paper dragons, corrugated crabs and cardboard space robots in this STEM skilled, hands on, interactive, cardboard adventure!
All cardboard creations can be taken home at the end of the show.
Recommended for ages 6 – 10. Running time: 60 minutes. Tickets from £14
