One of our favourite places to visit during the festive season is Warner Bros. Studio Tour, just outside London in Leavesden, for the annual Hogwarts in the Snow feature. In addition to seeing the Great Hall dressed up for Christmas with amazing details, the Forbidden Forest will also undergo a wintery transformation.

Secret Cinema are running an exciting new event this festive season at The Old Bauble Factory under Waterloo station. Wishmas: A Fantastical Christmas Adventure will be a 60-minute, fully immersive storytelling experience.

Meet Wishkeepers, Robins and Father Christmas himself as you explore magical rooms, make your own special momento in the craft workshop and enjoy festive treats at the Wishmas market. Wishmas tickets start from £29 per person.

Christmas at Kew

15 November 2023 – 7 January 2024

Kew Gardens has one of the most magical winter trail lights to visit at Christmas in London with kids. The panoramic Palm House light display was one of our favourite parts of the Christmas at Kew trail.

There are also sparkling tunnels of light, dancing waterside reflections, flickering flames in the Fire Garden, and the chance to see Father Christmas. Independent street food vendors offer tasty festive delights, from hot food and sweet treats to spiced winter warmers and hot chocolate.

Tickets: Trails start between 4.20pm and 8.20pm and the Gardens close at 10pm. Standard adult tickets are Off peak £22.50/ Peak £29. Child (ages 4 – 15) tickets start from £15. Child under 4 enter free.

Festive Fayre at Hampton Court Palace

1 – 3 December 2023

Hampton Court Palace courtyards will be transformed into a food-lover’s Christmas wonderland, full of delicious artisan food and drink, as well as perfect gifts to pick up for loved ones. Eat, drink, shop and be merry, all whilst soaking up the atmosphere and spirit of the season, with festive entertainment from the East Front bandstand.

The Gingerbread City at Westfield White City

2 December 2023 – 7 January 2024

The Gingerbread City is an annual exhibition by the Museum of Architecture where 50+ architects and designers create a whole city entirely from gingerbread, candy and frosting.

Gingerbread City Exhibition Tickets: Adult tickets for ages over 12 are £18.50, and tickets for ages 3 to 12 are £12.50. Under 3s go free, maximum 2 per parent or guardian.

Gingerbread Workshops: There will be several Gingerbread workshops taking place every day during the exhibition that are approximately 1 hour long. Your experience starts with a visit to The Gingerbread City Exhibition, followed by the Gingerbread Workshop.

Hamley has a festive Santa’s Grotto experience at their Regent Street store over Christmas. Meet the enchanted Hamleys Elves, receive a special gift bag and have a meet and greet with Santa himself.

There are three ticket cost options depending on the date you are visiting, ranging from £55 to £100 for access for up to 3 people. Tickets for additional people, range from £15 to £20 each depending on the date, up to a total of 6 people (applicable for all ages). You can take your own snaps of your experience with Santa, but there is also an optional photo to purchase at the end of your visit. Recommended for ages 2 to 8 years old.

Santa’s Grotto at Fenwick Kingston

22 November – 24 December 2023, selected dates

Santa is setting up his workshop in Fenwick Kingston. Meet the man himself, sit in his famous sleigh and sing a festive tune with the reindeers and help the mischievous elves build toys and sort letters at the Christmas Craft Factory. The experience will take 30 – 45 minutes.

The magical Santa’s Grotto at Fenwick Kingston will be open on selected dates in November and then daily throughout December. Tickets are £12.50 for adults and children, or £55 to book a slot for up to 6 people. Children under 2 go free. Tickets are available to purchase from 10am on 12 October.

Meet Santa at Peter Jones Sloane Square

24 November – 24 December 2023, selected dates

Book tickets for Santa’s Grotto at Peter Jones for all the family, including your four-legged friends! Work your way through an interactive grotto, with the help of Santa’s mischievous little helpers. You’ll have the chance to meet Santa, have your photo taken and receive a very special gift.

Tickets to meet Santa are £20 per child (includes a plush toy worth £10) plus a £2 booking fee. £2 per adult plus a 20p booking fee. The Santa Paws Experience costs £20 per dog (includes a Rosewood gift worth £20) plus a £2 booking fee. Professional photos available to purchase separately.

Christmas at the London Transport Museum

24 November – 23 December 2023

Meet Santa and join in the festive activities at the London Transport Museum. Since the London Transport Museum is located in Covent Garden, planning a visit at the museum is one of our favourite ways to make a full family day out of enjoying the festive atmosphere of the area.

This Christmas at the London Transport Museum, families can climb aboard a Routemaster-inspired interactive sleigh, participate in festive craft workshops and have a chance to meet Santa and his Elf in a magical winter garden. This is a great London Santa experience for young children since it’s low key, there is no extra charge or specific time slot and families can enjoy the museum, play areas and festive activities at their own pace.

Tickets: Adult tickets are £24 and valid for one year. Children and young people under 17 enter free. All visitors, including children, are required to have a timed entry slot booked in advance.

Father Christmas Storytelling at Chelsea Physic Garden

2 – 3, 9 – 10, 16 – 17 December 2023

Enjoy a special storytelling experience with Father Christmas at the festive science-themed grotto in Chelsea Physic Garden.

Children will receive a lovely gift and there will be an opportunity to take a picture with Father Christmas. Tickets are £12.50 per child (includes gift) and £10.50 for accompanying adults. Tickets include entry to the Garden on that day.

Victorian Santa’s Grotto at the Museum of London Docklands

2 – 23 December 2023

Santa is waiting for you in his Sailortown Grotto at the Museum of London Docklands with a festive gift. Afterwards, experience the museum’s Sailortown gallery, transformed with festive decorations and the sound of Victorian carols being sung in the distance. Personal photography is now permitted at the Santa’s Grotto.

Father Christmas at Gunnersbury

2 – 3, 9 – 10, 16 -17 December 2023

Victorian Father Christmas, dressed in his traditional green robes, will be at Gunnersbury Park Museum for the first three weekends on December.

Help Lizzie the kitchen maid make decorations to take home with you and see Father Christmas in his festive study. Children will receive a traditional wooden toy as a gift.

Tickets cost £15 to secure your timeslot and covers payment for one child. You may bring other children to the same timeslot (up to 4 maximum children). Additional children must be paid for on arrival at £15 each.

Christmas Grotto at London Zoo

2 -3, 9 – 10, 16 – 24 December 2023

In addition to fun festive family activities during Magic of Christmas at the London Zoo, there is the opportunity to book Christmas Grotto tickets to meet Santa on selected dates in December.

Tickets are now available and start from £15.50 to participate in elf school with Santa’s helpers and meet Santa himself in his magical grotto. Upgraded Meet Santa tickets cost £40 per child and £15 per adult and include a storytelling session with Mrs Claus and, along with parents, a special tour of the Zoo before meeting Santa. Every child will receive a special early Christmas gift.

Additional Meet Santa at London Zoo experiences available to book include a VIP Breakfast (£42.50 child / £21.50 adult) and Meet Santa Relaxed Sessions (£15.50).

Finding Father Christmas at the Charles Dickens Museum

10 December 2023

Meet Father Christmas himself at a wonderful family event at the Charles Dickens Museum, the former home of Charles Dickens. Follow a family trail, full of clues and puzzles to help you discover Santa’s Grotto.

On the way you’ll learn loads about how the Victorians celebrated Christmas, and what inspired Charles Dickens to write A Christmas Carol.

Tickets cost £15 for adults and £10 for children under 16. Note that every group must have at least 1 adult and 1 child.

Storytelling with Santa at the Natural History Museum

11 – 23 December 2023

Visit Santa in his wintery wonderland this festive season at the Natural History Museum. Santa will be telling a special Christmas story, and there will be the opportunity to have a photo taken with him afterwards. Each child’s ticket includes a gift from Santa.

Make sure to also stop by the dinosaur gallery to see the animatronic T-Rex decked out in its Christmas jumper and Santa hat, throughout November and December!

My Christmas Orchestral Adventure returns this December with a brand new story. Father Christmas is due at the biggest Christmas concert in the whole world but conductor Tim has lost his Christmas spirit.

Join his brother Tom, Albert’s Orchestra and a cast of special guests as they take Tim through Christmas’s past, present and future to try and bring his Christmas cheer back in time to meet Father Christmas.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland Ice Rink

17 November 2023 – 1 January 2024

Skate at the UK’s largest outdoor ice rink in the heart of London’s Hyde Park at Winter Wonderland this Christmas season. Set under a canopy of twinkly lights and built around the iconic Victorian bandstand, you can hit the ice from 10:00am to 10:00pm daily. Open to all ages and abilities – wheelchairs too.

Tickets: Adult ice rink tickets from £11.50. Children (12 and under) ice rinks tickets from £8.50. Advance bookings are required for Winter Wonderland. Ice rink tickets are in addition to the Winter Wonderland general admission costs.

Skate Aids: Winter Wonderland have a limited supply of penguin skate aids which cost £5 and are available on a first-come first served basis from the skate hire counter. They also have children’s bob skates (twin bladed skates that fit over a child’s shoes) available free of charge. Please speak to any member of Ice Rink staff if you wish to hire a skate aid or require bob skates.

The Queen’s House Ice Rink

23 November 2023 – 7 January 2023

The magical open-air ice skating rink takes centre stage once again in the grounds of Royal Museums Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Queen’s House ice rink will be open from 11am to 9pm during off-peak times and 10am to 9pm during peak times, with relaxed sessions available to book.

Tickets: Adult tickets start from £17. Child tickets start from £10. The minimum age to skate is 3 years old.

There will also be Tiny Tots sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during term time, from 28 November to 20 December, 11am to 1145am. The Tiny Tots sessions apply to children aged 3 to 6 years old. Up to two children go free with one adult ticket, which costs £17.

ICE at Kensington Palace

30 November 2023 – 7 January 2024

With its historic location, festive food and shopping and fun activities, ICE at Kensington Palace is set to become a new tradition for Londoners during the festive season.

Tickets: Adult (ages 15+) tickets start from £19 and child (ages 3 to 14) tickets start from £16. Skating sessions are 45 minutes long. Access to the grounds/VIP lounge are in three daily sessions: 0930 – 1330, 1330 – 1730 and 1730 – 2130.

On 7 November, Covent Garden’s world-famous Christmas lights will be switched on with a new installation with over 40 gigantic bells with bows, 12 giant baubles and 8 spinning mirror balls, all displayed in our iconic Market Building.

Along with the Christmas lights, enjoy mulled wine at the Winter Warmer Festival throughout November. The beautiful Wonder Wood display will be up until the beginning of January.

Carnaby is one of London’s most iconic places to see Christmas lights and decorations. This festive season, Carnaby are launching an exciting new Carnaby Universe installation, where you’ll be immersed in vibrant neon sphere’s of colour and light waves creating a moving vortex on Carnaby Street.

Regent Street “The Spirits of Christmas”

Regent Street’s famous “Spirits of Christmas” display, 45 spirit angels covered in thousands of LED lights, will be switched on this festive season from 9 November.

The Chelsea at Christmas Lights switch on will be on from 18 November. From midday, expect an afternoon of entertainment for all the family, with mulled wine, mince pies and even an appearance of Santa and his reindeer.
