La Chaudanne is one of the top Morzine restaurants and one we always go back to during our family summer holidays in Morzine. Also popular for its excellent wine bar, La Chaudanne offers traditional Savoyard cuisine and local specialties.
Our favourite Savoyard specialties to order at La Chaudanne are the cheese fondue, tartiflette and the pierrade. For a minimum of 2 people, the pierrade is a hot stone served with a platter of beef, chicken and veal for you to cook at your table.

La Chaudanne features several cheese fondue options that also come with either tomato or mushroom, all for minimum 2 people. Other popular local specialties on the La Chaudanne menu include Raclette, served with cured meat and warm potatoes, and Berthoud, cured meat and warm potatoes served with a small fondue of Abondance cheese.
La Chaudanne Morzine also serves fish, chicken and meat dishes, such as beef fillet and pork ribs with barbecue sauce. Pasta dishes include lasagne and pasta gratin with fish stuffing and Sorrento lemon.

La Rotonde

La Rotonde is another one of our favourite Morzine restaurants, located just down the road from the Pleney lift. With a large terrace and garden, La Rotonde is a great option for outdoor dining and enjoying the views in summer.
La Rotonde features seasonal products and local specialties on its lunch and dinner menus and also serves vegan and gluten-free options. Along with local Savoyard classics, such as fondue and raclette, La Rotonde offers a wide variety of pizzas, salads, pasta and risottos, fish and meat dishes.

Starters include French onion soup, garlic snails and leeks with beetroot vinaigrette and mimosa eggs. Some of the salad options are tuna poke bowl, Thai beef salad and Salade Rotonde, a salad topped with mountain charcuterie, raclette cheese toasts and potatoes.
One of our favourite dishes at La Rotonde is the Potence, pan-fried beef meat which is served flamed with whiskey and served with green salad and a selection of sauces.
Other popular Haute-Savoyard specialties on the menu are tartiflette and salad, along with Reblonchonnade and Raclette, both options for a minimum 2 people and served with potatoes and charcuterie. La Rotonde also has gluten free options available for many of its Savoyard speciality dishes.

La Grange

One of the best restaurants in Morzine, La Grange is a traditional alpine retaurant set in a charming wooden chalet in Morzine’s old town. La Grange is popular for its local specialties such as fondue and raclette, as well as its wide selection of traditional French dishes.
La Grange changes its menu according to the season and serves homemade starters, main courses and desserts, using a majority of fresh and local produce.

Along with the three cheese fondue, my favourite dish at La Grange is the goat cheese salad – delicious and perfect for summer! The hearty salad, La Bergère, comes with goat cheese from Morzine on toast, tomatoes, chicory, apples, walnuts and honey white balsamic and nut oil vinaigrette.
L’Ardoise Montagnarde, available to order to share as a starter or as a main course, is a selection of cured hams, sausage and local cheese, homemade crackers, red onion and apple chutney.
Main courses at La Grange feature a variety of meat and fish dishes such as duck and apple shepherd’s pie, lamb shank cooked with cider and spices, medallions of pork filet mignon wrapped in bacon and puff pastry fish casserole with local trout, scallops and mushrooms.

Vegetarian dishes on the menu include pumpkin risotto and a vegetable crumble with a creamy Béchamel sauce.

Children can order off a kids’ menu, with options such as a mini tartiflette, duck and apple shepherd’s pie and a filet of beef, chunky fried potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

L’Etale

L’Etale is a lively, bustling brasserie located in the Morzine town centre near the Pleney slopes. One of the most popular restaurants in Morzine, L’Etale is open year round with nonstop service from 11am to midnight and offers a covered terrace and large indoor space.
The huge menu at L’Etale Restaurant has something for everyone, from pasta and pizza to steak and Savoyard specialties. Meat dishes at L’Etale include Aberdeen tomahawk steak, venison stew and a selection of burgers.

In addition to popular local specialties such as Savoyard fondue, Raclette and Reblochonnade, L’Etale offers world cuisine dishes like poke bowls, crispy chicken satay and grilled pork ribs.
One of the must-try dishes to share is the Potence, the “Meat Tree”, pan-fried beef flambéed with whiskey and served with green salad, French fries and a selection of sauces.
As with most of the top Morzine restaurants, it is worth booking your table in advance at L’Etale, especially during the busy winter and summer seasons.
